Wouter Kroese studied Medicine and Computational Logic and is a co-founder of Pacmed, a unique tool for doctors based on Artificial Intelligence. Wouter Kroese has studied Medicine and Computational Logic before participating in the 2014 edition of the Dutch National ThinkTank (Nationale DenkTank) on Big Data with Willem Herter, Hidde Hovenkamp. Their company Pacmed originated from this thinktank. Pacmed builds decision support systems for doctors, that helps doctor choose treatments that have truly worked for similar patients, by analysing thousands of medical files.
Pacmed is a tool that provides general practitioners with the expected effects of different treatments, based on the analysis of enormous amounts of anonymous health data. With Pacmed, patients only receive the treatment that has proven to work in practice for patients like them. We believe every patient is unique and that we can and should learn from every one of them. With Pacmed the experience of every patient and the expertise of every doctor directly contributes to making health care more personal and precise. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
